Innovative Pest Control

As soon as people see those eight-legged pests known as spiders, they tend to panic and worry about getting bit and poisoned. In fairness, some like the black widow spider are exceptionally poisonous, so it’s a valid concern. However, some like the common house spider is considered to be quite harmless despite having fangs and venom as all spiders do. The reason for this is because the amount of venom they possess just isn’t enough to register in humans, unlike more poisonous species.

House spiders possess a small dark brown body with striped legs and are likely to hide in dark rooms. Rooms like the basement or the attic are the perfect spot to find these pests.
Keep in mind that house spiders prefer to hide and keep a low profile. For this reason, if you see them out and about, it’s a sure sign they’ve been around for a long time and have simply outgrown their habitat. When this occurs, it’s a good idea to consider professional pest control to take care of the spider infestation.

Prevention Tips To Follow

Even though house spiders can’t harm people and can help by preying on other annoying insects, they still don’t belong inside the house. For this reason, we’ve put together a brief list of helpful prevention tips to follow:

  • Entry Points: Since they get inside just like the insects they prey on, it only makes sense to focus on blocking common entry points. Using silicone caulk, be sure to seal any crack, crevice, or hole so the spider and its pretty can’t get inside.
  • Landscaping: Their prey like untamed environments, which means they like that as well. Plus, the more untamed the yard is, the better able they’re able to create their webs to trap their prey. Utilize proper landscaping practices, and you’ll be on your way to a pest-free property.
  • Food Storage: Insects like human food. If you leave crumbs behind and don’t store unused food properly, they’ll make themselves at home. If the insects stick around, then so will the house spiders.
  • Trash Storage: This rule is the same as the previous one. If pests can access your trash, then you’ll end up with spider problems too. Practice effective trash management to remain pest-free, or at least have a better shot at accomplishing that goal.
